The ear thermometer is specially designed with safety in mind and is simple to use (temperatures can be taken while the patient sleeps). The unit incorporates replaceable probe covers to avoid cross contamination. The ear thermometer measures the temperature of the infrared heat given by the eardrum and surrounding tissues and converts this temperature into an oral equivalent temperature.
