The plethysmograph module provides for physiological monitoring of heart rate, blood volume pulse (BVP), and pulse wave form (raw signal)when connected to the J&J original I-330 interface. Heart rate is determined by beat to beat cardiotachometer measurement where each interbeat interval is converted to heart rate; beat to beat feedback is vital to monitoring cardiac variability, e.g., respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA). Blood volume pulse is a measurement of peak to peak amplitude of the pulse wave form; unlike temperature, BVP provides immediate vascular feedback.
