This series of HRV Biofeedback Series, taught by Fred Shaffer, PhD, BCIA Board Certified in Biofeedback, will be 3 Independent Class Sessions Covering the Anatomy and Physiology, Instrumentation, and Clinical Applications of HRV Biofeedback.

This Expert Series classes are held in the NTE Real-Time Online Classroom from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM Eastern Time.

  1. Review of the anatomy and physiology of heart rate variability: What generates the major HRV frequency bands. Why 0.1 Hz training increases HRV.
  2. The BVP method of monitoring HRV: placements, controlling artifacts, and confirming signal accuracy.
  3. The ECG method of monitoring HRV: placements, controlling artifacts, and confirming signal accuracy.
  4. The major global indices of HRV (SDNN, HR Max – HR Min, pNN50): what they mean and when you should use them.
  5. Protocol for determining a client’s resonance frequency.
  6. How to train clients to increase HRV in 120 minutes: 0.1 Hz training guidelines.
  7. Review of the clinical efficacy of HRV biofeedback.
