“HRV biofeedback training improved myocardial blood flow in coronary heart disease patients, showing potential as a lifestyle intervention for heart failure risk reduction. The randomized pilot trial demonstrated significant effects of HRV biofeedback on mental stress myocardial flow reserve compared to standard care. HRV biofeedback, a stress-reduction intervention, can help patients self-regulate their autonomic nervous system activity through HRV augmentation, guided visualization, paced breathing, emotional awareness, and the cultivation of positive emotions. Low HRV has also been associated with increased risk of heart failure hospitalization in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in postmenopausal women, according to previous studies. HRV biofeedback training has the potential to be a promising tool or lifestyle intervention—in addition to healthy lifestyle changes—to decrease the risk of heart failure, chronic stress, and hypertension…”
