Nuprep Skin Prep Gel effectively lowers impedance to improve your tracings. Its mild abrasive formula improves conductivity and helps achieve maximum efficiency with your equipment. Small single use size.

Nuprep Key Benefits

  • Lowers electrode-skin impedance for clearer tracings and more reliable signal acquisition.
  • Mild, controllable abrasion—apply with light circular strokes; effective even with very light pressure on delicate skin.
  • Works across modalities: EEG/qEEG, EP, ECG stress testing, Holter, and cardiac rehab.
  • Room-temperature storage, non-toxic if ingested, nonflammable, no special disposal requirements.

When to Use

Use whenever lower skin impedance would enhance test results, e.g., routine EEG/qEEG, EPs, ECG stress tests, Holter monitoring, and cardiac rehab telemetry.

Applications for Nuprep gel include:

  • EEG exams
  • Evoked potential procedures
  • Stress tests
  • Prep for Holter monitoring
  • Cardiac rehabilitation monitoring
  • Cardiac catheter monitoring
  • ECG telemetry
  • Sleep tests
  • Audiology tests

Application Instructions

  1. Moisten a cotton swab or small piece of gauze with a small amount of Nuprep; remove excess.
  2. Rub lightly in 4-5 small circular motions (about the diameter of the electrode).
  3. On neonates/geriatrics: use much less pressure; 3-4 very light strokes typically suffice.
  4. If needed, add one or two more light strokes, not more pressure.
  5. Clean away any excess before electrode placement.

Pro tip: Wash hair/skin and avoid lotions/oils pre-exam to reduce natural impedance before you even open the tube.

Nuprep FAQs

When used correctly with light pressure and limited strokes, Nuprep is well-tolerated; over-abrasion can cause injury and should be avoided. Discontinue if redness or irritation persists.

Does it need special handling or disposal?

No special handling or disposal is required; store at room temperature with the cap closed. Nonflammable.

What color/consistency is the gel?

Light green, odorless gel with neutral pH (~7).

Safety Information

Nuprep is an abrasive gel and should be used with care not to over-abrade the skin.

Nuprep gel is not recommended for use with current inducing electrodes such as defibrillator or neuro-stimulating equipment.

Nuprep gel is to be used topically on intact skin only. This product is not to be used on or near skin sites that are injured, including open wounds, bruised skin, or skin that is weakened because of injury or the medical condition of the patient.

Do not use on patients with a history of skin allergies or sensitivity to cosmetics and lotions. Patients with sensitivity to cosmetics and lotions may experience a greater sensitivity to Nuprep gel than expected.
